SMILE Mass has several pieces of equipment for families to borrow and take anywhere with them. Our current inventory includes: floating beach wheelchairs, bath chair with back, blue Freedom running stroller, hoyer lift (provide your own sling) and a portable ramp.

The Miles family enjoying a SMILE Mass chair at Short Beach Nahant.  The Miles family and friends of Beverly English helped purchase a chair for the beach in memory of Beverly.

The loaner program was started as an extension of the beach wheelchair program.  Once word got out about the beach wheelchairs we were donating to public beaches, people started calling because they vacationed in an area that did not yet have one of the donated chairs.  

To help alleviate that issue, SMILE Mass started a loaner program out of Sudbury, Massachusetts.  Families can borrow adapted equipment to take anywhere for a day, a week or longer.  Our inventory includes: floating beach wheelchairs, bath chair with back, blue Freedom running stroller, hoyer lift (provide your own sling) and a portable ramps. Any of these items can be borrowed to help families enjoy a day of recreation or a vacation away from home with the right amenities.
