A special note from Lotte…

“As many of you know, SMILE Mass attempted to receive Boston Marathon bib numbers. With great regret, I have to tell you that SMILE Mass was not one of the chosen non-profits. If you are in the same boat as SMILE Mass and you are still in search for that bib number, perhaps this invitation is what you have been looking for! I would like to invite you to join SMILE Mass in the Copenhagen Marathon on May 22nd, 2016.

I want to run a marathon WITH NICHOLAS and I know many of you would welcome the challenge of having the opportunity to push a stroller through at a marathon. So, I went ahead and contacted the race director in Copenhagen and he would love for us to come! He wants to contact the Danish press. So, even though I wasn’t looking for any hoopla, I can let you know that both my family and friends in Denmark are super excited to see us through the race. If you think this is intriguing keep reading. I would love to have you join me. Oh and an FYI, I am looking for one runner that will support/assist Nicholas and I through the race, this will be my/our first marathon ever. What better place for us to do it than at home?”

A special invitation to you
COPENHAGEN DENMARK MARATHON
May 22nd, 2016
(Did I mention the marathon is flat, flat, flat?)

Here is how it works for the Ambassador (Runner):

As a Ambassador you will be committed to raising money and run with a child with disabilities. The required amount to participate is $5000, which must be raised by May 15, 2016. If interested, SMILE Mass will need you to commit to this challenge by Jan 15, 2016, so we/I can plan accordingly.

When signing up for the challenge, you will be provided with a fundraising page (Crowdrise) that you can use for all your fundraising needs. At the time of sign up, we ask that you make a required donation of $100 to your page. The $100 will be refunded when you reach your goal. Each runner will be provided with flight and hotel accommodations for two people (most likely for 7 days). Further more, we will provide you with team shirts, jackets, etc. This trip will be AMAZING and a great opportunity to see other parts of the world while doing good for others. The Copenhagen Marathon has provided SMILE Mass with 15 spots, secure your spot today! Once we have the teams, we will come up with a plan for fundraising. I want to be an Ambassador for the SMILE Mass team in Copenhagen!

Here is how it works for the Captains (children with disabilities):

As a Captain, you will be committed to raise money and help your Ambassador train by making yourself available a few Saturdays before the race. This is needed to not only get familiar with each other, but also to help the runners get familiar with the stroller and extra weight. We want to make this race safe and fun run for everyone. The required amount to participate is $5000, which must be raised by May 15, 2016. If interested, SMILE Mass will need you to commit to this challenge by Jan 15, 2016, so we/I can plan accordingly.

I want to be a Captain for the SMILE Mass team in Copenhagen!

The plan is to fly through Iceland. The great thing about Iceland Air is that they will allow you to do a stop over for the day or a couple of days with no extra cost. However you will have to book your accommodations in Iceland separately and at your own cost. Did I mention the Blue Lagoons in Iceland are amazing and can be done on an extended day in Iceland.

Meet the teams so far!
